Hey Fellas, I was set on getting the Grizzly but then checked Amazon. All of a sudden, they dropped the JTM-2 price by over a thousand bucks (Jet 9x42 knee mill). They also had an $80 off coupon. Knowing the volatility of Amazon prices (I've seen sale prices last for 15 minutes on power tools), I ordered it right away.

Acra or Grizzly mill?

They are rated at from 88 to 95% efficiency. While that is lower than a standard V-belt drive, at 95-98%, the benefits of variable drive more than make up for it. When I got my Webb Mill, the belts were apparently the originals based on the dirt inside of the housing. They were still in decent condition.

G6760 for a few reasons: The G6760 looks more like a scaled down version of the Bridgeport's. Machine weight, the G6760 weighs almost 300 lbs more than the G3616. (G6760 machine weight 1620 lbs / G3616 machine weight 1322 lbs) Coolant system, I personally don't care for a coolant system on a mill unless it's used for high production.

Spindle removed from my Grizzly G3616 Mill

Lock the quill in place. 3. Support the spindle with a block of wood on the mill table. (I used a 2x4.) 4. Remove the screw holding the cover of the down feed spring housing in place and remove the cover. 5. Under the head you will find a set screw that holds the down feed spring housing in place. What is your spindle temp? What is normal?

The temp probe read 130 degrees F. That is about on par for the Novakon spindle after that amount of time. Did not have a reason to run the Grizzly mill for longer, not sure what the max temp would have been. Running the Grizzly at 1000 RPM for about two hours only generated about 120 degrees F, but I don't have temps for the Novakon …

DRO scale on front of table HM50/52 Grizzly G3616/17

The steel angle is 40 x 40 x 5mm and the flat bar on the front is 40 x 6mm milled flat on the 6mm side to sit flush on the angle. The end are caps made out of 40 x 6 also, and the table stop/brackets are made out of 32 x 12mm and both are welded to the angle. I painted the front of the table and the back of the angle to stop rust.
