Minerals | Free Full-Text | Reverse Flotation Separation of Fluorite

Fluorite (CaF2), as an important strategic mineral source, is usually separated from calcite by the common froth flotation method, but this separation is still not selective enough. The development of a selective collector and/or depressant is the key to achieving high selective separation. 1-Hydroxyethylidene-1,1-diphosphonic acid (HEDP or H4L) is …

Influence of physical and chemical parameters on

Variables affecting froth flotation can be divided in two groups: chemical and physical. Reagents type and dosages take an important role depending on the ore type. Flotation of fluorite ores typically used tannings to depress calcite and ferrous minerals, starch and/or dextrin to depress quartz and a fatty acid collector [8, [16], [17], [18 ...

Non-collector flotation is a novel and environmentally friendly technology. Previous investigation on the flotation of quartz from feldspar showed that quartz floats readily in the diluted HF solution simply by adding frothers only (Larsen and Kleiv, 2015, Larsen and Kleiv, 2016). The recovery of quartz was discovered to have a high …

The Importance of pH in Flotation

The Importance of pH in Flotation. In flotation, pH control is a vital method to control selective mineral separation. A standard depressant that is used is an Alkali. An Alkali is any substance that when mixed with Acid will neutralize each other and form a new chemical substance called a BASE. This is very important.

Flotation Frothers

Flotation Frothers – Frothing Agents. The next reagent that is added is the Flotation FROTHER. The frother strengthens the surface tension of the air that is injected into the flotation cell. As the air rises in the shape of bubbles, they come into contact with the mineral laden collector which attaches itself to the air.

Regulation of bubble size in flotation: A review

During the flotation process, hydrophobic minerals are transferred to the foam by bubbles. The size of bubbles has a significant influence on the capture probability of the bubbles and particles, hence affecting the flotation efficiency. Effective regulation of the bubble size is a premise for achieving a controllable flotation index.
